ReplyDeleteIt seems that at different periods in my life, I have had various favorite Bible verses. One of my current favorites is Psalm 84:11, which ends with the phrase, "...no good thing will He withhold from them that walk uprightly."
As I seek His will for this season of my life, it comforts me to know that, as I do my best to seek Him, He will provide all things that are good for me.
I always seem to find a new favorite scripture when I have found a book that really speaks to me. A verse from the book will reach out and grab me and I will find myself thinking about it often. A verse that I have really been meditating on since this summer is Ephesians 33: So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband. This scripture is the basis of the book, "Love and Respect". It talks about men being commmanded to love their wives, but women being instructed to respect their husbands. The author goes on throughout the book addressing men and women's very different needs in a marriage. This was very eye opening to me and I think about it often; when I am trying to do something to please my husband or when I have upset him . As a woman I would feel loved or unloved in these 2 given situations, but in relationship to a man I find myself wondering if he is feeling respected or disrespected instead. Anyway, it's a very meaty concept that often leaves me thinking for hours.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite verse has always been Proverbs 3:5-6;
ReplyDeleteTrust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. It's may favorite because it was actually the first verse I ever memorized and it just holds true, when I don't lean on my understanding but lean on His, and acknowledge Him, I am always better off for it.
