Texture Tuesday-Happy Sunflowers

Wow it has been a super long time since I have posted here.  I have really missed photography AND playing in photoshop, so sat down to have a little fun.  Oh how I do love sunflowers.  Such a happy flower!

I took advantage of a huge bundle sale over at Design Cuts some time ago and go hundreds of textures to play with.  I used a blue one here, topped with KK Carol to lighten it all up.  Everything looks good in a blue Ball jar, right??

Texture Tuesday

I played with a new technique to create this half watercolor photo.  Gotta say, it was pretty fun!

Fall Beauty - Texture Tuesday Edition

The fall colors make me want to just sit in a forrest somewhere and take it all in.  How about you?

Having fun with Kim Klassen for Texture Tuesday today.

Field of Lace - Flower Art Friday

Stop the car!

My husband just loves when I yell it out of nowhere!  But he also knows I was traveling with camera in hand, so that was all the warning he had when we rounded a corner in the Shawnee National Forest and came across a field of Queen Anne's lace. A field of weeds to most, but one of my favorite, intricate little wildflowers.

This is textured with 2 layers of  Pixel Art's 'ornate linen' on soft light, and 2 layers of 'painterly' on overlay.

I was pretty happy with the original as well:

Thanks for stopping in today!

Texture Tuesday-Gratitude

On our trip last week to Shawnee National Forest, we made a stop at a place that had about 6 hummingbird feeders hanging on their building.  It was so much fun watching them scurry around.  But every now and then, they would head for a tree to rest.  I love how this turned out.

Textured with Kim's 'Xanthe Scripted'.

Texture Tuesday - Beauty

It has been a very long time since I have been able to participate in Texture Tuesday, so without further delay......here is my entry for today.  Thanks, as always, Kim for hosting and for the gorgeous textures!  This is a bud from my beautiful 'Veteran's Honor' rose.

Treated with 'Flourish' and 'The Veil' from Kim's collection.  The quote is from Ann Voskamp's book, "One Thousand Gifts".  I HIGHLY recommend this read!

Flying Beauty - Photo Art Friday

The Paper Kite butterfly captured my heart this past summer when I was able to photograph it in two different butterfly houses.  It's home is in southeast Asia, so unfortunately I won't see it flying through my garden any time soon!

Photo Art Friday - Gates

Wow, it has been a really long time since I have posted here!  Like many of you, the holiday time seems to take on a life of it's own and takes over mine!  But that is usually in a good way, because if I haven't had time to sit and visit here, it means I was having a grand time with my family.

I've also been having a dry spell creatively, and haven't had any time to play in Photoshop.  It felt really good to have some free time tonight to do some creating.  I'm so happy Photo Art Friday is back!

This is a photo I took while in Haiti in 2011.  We saw many pretty gates on walled streets.  Unfortunately in Haiti they aren't used for decoration, but for security.  I thought this one was picture perfect!

Texture Tuesday

It's been a long time since I've joined in on a Texture Tuesday!  I was feeling creative last night, so I worked up this cute little Queen Anne's Lace, textured with Kim's Leslie and Laura. I've missed you Texture Tuesday!!

Barn Love

Speaking of barns, I took this photo this summer during one of those road trips.  I'm posting the original, with only a sharpening layer.   Then I thought it would be fun to use a watercolor action.

Enjoy.

Hello Again!

I've missed you all!  It's been so long since I've had any time to blog!  This is certainly the longest time I have EVER gone without a post!

I've been working now since mid-August, and can I say, I just now feel like I am getting my head above water!  Up until now, I've only been able to concentrate on work, sleeping, eating and caring for the family.  I've done absolutely no extra-curriculars!  I haven't touched my camera either, and that makes me sad.  I'm hoping that my schedule will start to feel more "normal" and I can begin adding back into life all those things that I love, including blogging!

Since I have't touched my camera, I pulled this one out of my summer stack.  I can't believe I never got it posted before now.  I was absolutely in love with the chikoree weed this summer.  It was about the only thing that thrived during our hot and dry summer.  So when I saw this field full in front of a barn.....a natural place to stop.  I even got down low, looking up toward the barn to get as much chikoree in the photo as possible.  I enhanced the blue, of course, and used Kim Klassen's  'Now' to brighten the whole photo.

Enjoy!

Sunkissed

These cute little yellow flowers we called 'butter and eggs' when I was a kid.  I have no idea what they really are, a ground cover wildflower.  There were entire fields of them in Canada on vacation that were quite stunning!

I used Kim Klassen's 'sunkissed' and 'dreamit' textures.
