Field of Lace - Flower Art Friday

Stop the car!

My husband just loves when I yell it out of nowhere!  But he also knows I was traveling with camera in hand, so that was all the warning he had when we rounded a corner in the Shawnee National Forest and came across a field of Queen Anne's lace. A field of weeds to most, but one of my favorite, intricate little wildflowers.

This is textured with 2 layers of  Pixel Art's 'ornate linen' on soft light, and 2 layers of 'painterly' on overlay.

I was pretty happy with the original as well:

Thanks for stopping in today!

Flying Beauty - Photo Art Friday

The Paper Kite butterfly captured my heart this past summer when I was able to photograph it in two different butterfly houses.  It's home is in southeast Asia, so unfortunately I won't see it flying through my garden any time soon!

Photo Art Friday - Gates

Wow, it has been a really long time since I have posted here!  Like many of you, the holiday time seems to take on a life of it's own and takes over mine!  But that is usually in a good way, because if I haven't had time to sit and visit here, it means I was having a grand time with my family.

I've also been having a dry spell creatively, and haven't had any time to play in Photoshop.  It felt really good to have some free time tonight to do some creating.  I'm so happy Photo Art Friday is back!

This is a photo I took while in Haiti in 2011.  We saw many pretty gates on walled streets.  Unfortunately in Haiti they aren't used for decoration, but for security.  I thought this one was picture perfect!

Goldenrod - Photo Art Friday and Flower Friday

Wow, y'all.  This new job, receptionist at a high school, is kicking my behind!  Not that it is hard, but I haven't not had to get up and work all day for quite some time and my body is just not used to this!  By Thursday, I was dragging!  And next week my start time will change to 6:45 am!!  That is insane for this non-morning person!!  I haven't even calculated what time I need to get up to be there at that time!

Anyhoo, I know you stopped by to see some lovely, so here is my submission for Photo Art Friday and Flower Friday.

On our recent vacation to Canada, I was able to gather lots of fun wildflowers to photograph, so hopefully you'll see some more soon.  I love the beautiful yellow of goldenrod!  I used Kim Klassen's 'Oh My' on Soft Light at 100% and Multiply at 100%.

Another Daisy for Flower Art Friday

Somehow I missed the photo prompt last week at Leanne's for something red!  This cute little daisy really doesn't fit the bill, but I was so pleased with the result I just had to share it with you!  This is straight out of the camera with just a little adjustment to the brightness.

If you didn't see my announcement over the last few days, I recently opened a new Etsy shop, where you can find many of my photos for sale (including this one).  I hope you will stop over and celebrate with me.  I have a gift of a 40% off coupon for you with the code GRAND, valid until Sunday.

Enjoy your weekend!

Dreams - Photo Art

I've thought about it and dreamed about it for a long time.  I've finally done it.....squee!!  I've been working on it for several weeks, but yesterday I actually opened my Etsy shop, Heart & Soul Photo Art.

So I thought it appropriate that I share this photo with you today, reminding you to follow your dreams!  This photo is near to my heart because it was taken at our cabin in Canada.  Canoeing is one of our favorite things to do with the kids.  What could be better than a lake of rainbows?  We are headed up to the cabin in 6 days and I CANNOT WAIT!

You can find this print (and many others) in my Etsy shop, and best of all, in honor of my Grand Opening, all prints are 40% off until Sunday with the coupon code GRAND.

Thanks for stopping in today!!

Photoshop Fun for Friday Link-ups

Another week has flown by, and another Friday is here to participate in my fave photo link-ups!  Photo Art Friday's challenge was "fencing".  I have no idea of the explanation of this bike on the fence, but I thought it was whimsical!

Photo Art Friday

Flower Art Friday had me running in circles.  I started with one idea, and by the time I was done with my edits, it was nothing like what I had in mind to begin with!!  This is a water lily found on the Mississippi River.

Live - Photo & Flower Art Friday

I'm playing in the wildflowers again.  Queen Anne's Lace is one of my favorites.  I just love the detail.  Have you noticed in this summer's extreme heat the wildflowers are still going strong?  No wilting for them!  Forecast is for 103 degrees here today. ~wow~

I want to thank all of you who come by to visit each Friday and leave comments on my work.  It means the world to me and has really helped give me the confidence to keep going and experiment with my photography.  Thank you so much for all of your encouragement!!

I used Kim Klassen's texture 'Now' and 'Little Things'.

Some Weeds are my Friends - Photo Art Friday

I love these flowers all in bloom along the country roads. They really are weeds, but I love their cornflower blue color and cheery faces.

Photo Art Friday!

I love photos of trees.  I don't know what it is, but they always capture my attention. I took this photo about 3 years ago and spent over 30 minutes searching the archives to find it.  I knew it would be a good one to play with heavier textures.  I even downloaded this cool Crumpled Paper action this week that I absolutely love.  It gave the background the coolest look of parchment paper!

I know some of you like to know the recipe, but honestly I did so many things to this photo, I don't think I could record it all.  Mostly because some of it was brand new to me!  But I LOVE that I am learning so much in Kim Klassen's Beyond Layers class.  If you've never taken it, I highly recommend it.

Thanks for visiting today!
