Top Ten Tuesday-My Favorite Bible Verses

Top Ten {Tuesday}

Choosing just 10 bible verses as my favorite is a difficult task.  I have so many that have touched my heart in various seasons of my life.  God's word always provides the direction and encouragement that we need in every circumstance.

  1. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
  2. Live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,  being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully  giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom of light.  Colossians 1:10b-12
  3. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  Ephesians 6:11
  4. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  II  Corinthians 1:3-4
  5. The mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace.  Romans 8: 6b
  6. My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.  Luke 1:46
  7. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.  Matthew 6:33
  8. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  Jeremiah 29:11
  9. I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.  He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.  Psalm 40:1-2
  10. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.  Psalm 34:17-18

These are some of my favorites, but I hardly even put a dent in some of my favorite Old Testament verses.  Maybe that will be another Top Ten list for later.

I'd love to see a couple of your favorites!  Leave them for me in the comments!

  3. I love this idea. :-) I might "borrow" it later. The last 3 you mentioned are some of my favorites, and were particular blessings to me during my last miscarriage. Two more that are very meaningful to me of late are Philippians 4: 6-8 (I'm working on memorizing this now) and Psalm 37:3 - 6 (which I memorized by putting up on index cards on my bathroom mirror to look at each morning. LOL) . I also just wrote a blog post about part of Psalm 119 that will be my next Scripture memory passage. All 3 of these verses, plus the last 3 on your list, are ones Christ constantly brings to my mind as I proceed through life. :-)

    On a side note - wanted to let you know that I used one of your free blogging images in my Sunday post, with photo credit and a link to your blog. :-) Thanks for blessing your fellow bloggers!
