Becoming Agents of God's Love

Since the middle of November, my church family has collected toys, coats (around 2700!), and food to be distributed to the most needy in our community.  Volunteers worked tirelessly to organize and sort everything by sizes and age appropriateness. (I take terrible photos with my phone, but I forgot the camera!)

Then over the course of several weeks, our members went out into the community and met with people in our community centers and homeless shelters to personally meet with individuals who needed these items to collect their family's coat sizes, food and toy needs.  Over 650 families were preregistered.  But countless more will also come on the day of distribution with a list of their needs as well.

This yearly effort is called Imagine.  Just Imagine if no one was without a coat, or food, or a present on Christmas morning.  Imagine if we offered the love of Christ to our guests, every person who enters our doors to collect these items.

Tuesday evening our family joined the effort, along with hundreds of other volunteers, to begin assembling each family's list so that when they come to our church this Saturday, everything they need is already bundled and ready for them to pick up!

We had an amazing time gathering gifts for friends we haven't even met yet, and probably never will.  But hopefully, when they walk in the doors of our church on Saturday, they'll meet Jesus.
