Can One Person Make a Difference?

A homeless man was awaiting the cars at the stop sign from the off ramp of the interstate.  His tattered cardboard sign reported his situation:  hungry.

The Lord nudged me that day to hand him some money.  I reached into my wallet and pulled out a $5 bill.  It wasn't much, but it would buy a fast food meal.

Did anyone else give help that day to this stranger?  I'll never know.  But I hope my $5 made a difference.

Can $5 make a difference elsewhere?  Will it buy a village a clean water supply?  Will it bring food to a feeding center?  Will it buy vaccinations for children?

My $5 alone?  No.  But added to your $5, and someone elses $5, and others $5, soon we have accumulated hundreds of dollars.

But if we don't start to give, one at a time, nothing happens.

and the poor remain hungry

and the poor remain naked

and the poor remain ravaged by disease

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him,
how can the love of God be in him?
Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."

Would you take action today?

Would you add your $5 or $10 to mine and others to make a difference?

World Vision has the most amazing gift catalog available for Christmas.  Your family can buy livestock, clean water, school supplies or food to hurting families.

2 chickens $25
5 ducks $30
5 rabbits $80
1 sheep $105
1 pig $195
1 cow $500

Livestock brings food and nourishment to the family, but also provides an income for them as they sell the eggs, milk, and babies to others.

Can one person make a difference?

YES!

"More than 26,500 children died yesterday of preventable causes related to their poverty, and it will happen again today and tomorrow and the day after that."  Richard Stearns, CEO World Vision
