More Than One Kind of Poverty

Poverty, destitution, need, want
 imply a state of privation
and lack of necessities.
 Poverty denotes serious lack
of the means for proper existence.

We usually think of poverty as being one dimensional - having no money.  But in our world, it means  more than the lack of money; it means that over 340 million people lack for the means of proper existence....they have no bible in their language.

Bible Poverty.

It's when millions of people all over the world have
no access to the most published book of all time in their native language.

It's when those same people think that our God is not their God because
He hasn't spoken to them in their language.

It's when countless people groups perform rituals, idol worship,
and human sacrifices because they don't know any other way.....
...THE WAY, Jesus Christ.

It's when bible translators around the world are risking their
lives to bring the bible to their people in a language they can understand.

"The December 18, 2006 issue of New Yorker magazine has a great article entitled, The Good Book Business: Why Publishers Love the Bible. The familiar observation that the Bible is the best-selling book of all time obscures a more startling fact: the Bible is the best-selling book of the year, every year. Calculating how many Bibles are sold in the United States is a virtually impossible task, but a conservative estimate is that in 2005 Americans purchased some twenty-five million Bibles—twice as many as the most recent Harry Potter book. The amount spent annually on Bibles has been put at more than half a billion dollars." -Michael Hyatt.com

Americans live in ridiculous abundance while others simply go without....

Without the life saving words of God our Father, God their Father,

God our Creator, God their Creator.

Without the means for a proper existence.... in the hope, grace, and presence of the Living God.

I'm Not OK With That

So how do we change it?  We take action!  We refuse to be reserved.  We stand up and proclaim: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." -Romans 1:16

Join me, along with 29 other fabulous Christian bloggers, to bring Bible poverty to an end.  We have chosen to sponsor the Vidunda people in the East African country of Tanzania.

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!  It will take 250 monthly partners to complete our goal of translating the entire New Testament by 2014!  That is just 2 short years!!

Your sponsorship gift of $26 per month provides the resources required for national translators to translate one verse of Scripture into their own language. Through OneVerse, you join a team of prayer and financial partners to make this possible.

Our world is saturated with calls for help from many worthy organizations asking for your donations. I pray that you will seriously consider joining THIS call to bring the Word of God to generations of people, making an eternal impact in the lives of the Vidunda people and beyond.

"And we also thank God continually because,
when you received the word of God, which you heard from us,
you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God,
which is at work in you who believe."
1 Thessalonians 2:13
