The Horrors of Living in an Old House

We live in a house that is over 100 years old.  Can you say "unforeseen repairs"?  How about "money pit"?  This was the scene at our house on Sunday afternoon. (So much for an afternoon of snuggling and football.)


What started out as a small hole behind the medicine cabinet to find a leak, slowly and painfully turned into this:



And then a second bathroom became involved:


Wouldn't you know, the leak is somewhere between the two floors?  Of course it is...sigh...

As of today, we do have water running, thank heavens, but permanent repair is at a stand-still until my brother brings a piece of equipment that Husband needs to run new lines and finish the task.

I can't tell you how thankful I am for Husband who is handy!  If he doesn't know how to do a home repair, he just looks it up and learns how to do it!  We'd never survive all those repairman bills in this house!
