You've probably noticed that I love going to thrift stores! It's like a giant surprise every time you go because you just never know what you are going to find! Garage sales are the same way, but I don't usually find as much there anymore. I happened across an estate sale a few weeks ago and found a linen table cloth. It had a few stains but I thought I could cut it up and use it somehow.
I decided to make a table runner. So I cut out two sections that were stain free, added a piece of fabric in the middle that matches the curtains in the kitchen.
I simply sewed the pieces together and then baste stitched down the outsides so I could create a ruffle.
I had a small piece of the fabric left, so I re-lined the basket that sits on the table with the salt, pepper and napkins in it.
Add fresh flowers and Grandma's teacup...done.
I love that! I have some old table cloths that I could do something like that to. Thanks for the idea!
